Rabobank invests in Domyn to advance sovereign-AI adoption in financial services

20 April 2026 – Rabo Investments Corporate Venturing (RICV) announces a minority equity investment in Domyn, a European leader in sovereign-AI for regulated industries, as part of a broader strategic initiative focused on deploying responsible, sovereign AI within Rabobank. Following the investment, Rabobank has started testing Domyn’s AI platform, large language models, and AI agents across selected banking use cases.

Building on this collaboration, Domyn and Rabobank will work together on the development and deployment of AI systems tailored to financial services, with a focus on governance, transparency, and alignment with the EU AI-Act. The envisaged collaboration supports Domyn’s expansion in the Netherlands, including the establishment of a presence in Utrecht.

Uljan Sharka, CEO at Domyn, commented: “We’re entering a phase where AI deployment isn’t just about capability, but about trust, sovereignty, and long‑term ownership. Our collaboration with Rabobank reflects a shared belief that financial institutions should lead in building and operating their own AI systems securely, responsibly, and aligned with democratic values.”

Alexander Zwart, CITO and Managing Board Member at Rabobank, added: “Rabobank is strategically scaling AI capabilities in key processes across the bank and recognizes the importance of digital sovereignty. This is why we chose to support a like‑minded company such as Domyn, backing their mission to scale responsibly and contribute to a robust and competitive European AI ecosystem.”

Through continued collaboration and real‑world deployment, the partnership aims to support the development of production‑grade AI systems that combine performance with governance, reinforcing Rabobank’s broader AI transformation agenda while strengthening Domyn’s position in financial services.
