Global Head Rabo Investments

Francis joined Rabo Investments in November 2019. Francis spend the early years of her career in international M&A for KPN Telecom, before setting up a global customer care company on behalf of KLM. She joined Private Equity firm NPM Capital in 2000, where she could leverage her business experience as well as her financial expertise in investing in medium to large sized (family owned) companies.

She decided to switch her career in 2009 to her other passion, art, in working as an exhibitions curator and writing a book about Michiel van Musscher, an unknown portrait painter in the Dutch Golden Age. After that she realised, she missed the impact and the ambition of the investments and she became responsible for setting up and managing early and later stage venture capital funds for InnovationQuarter until November 2019.

Francis choice for the VC/PE world results from a passion for innovation and a desire to make an impact in the world. She is one of the founders of Fundright, a VC initiative to increase diversity in investment funds and their portfolio companies. She is also board member of several funds and at Matrix/Science Park Amsterdam.
Francis has a graduate degree in Business economics from the VU Amsterdam, and a bachelor’s degree in Art history from the University of Amsterdam.

Thijs has been working at Rabo Investments since June 2015. He focusses on equity participations and is responsible for 5 portfolio companies. He fulfils an active role as a sparring partner for management and adds value through his personal network and experience in supporting growth companies.

Thijs has been working for Rabobank since 2009, where he has been active for 6 years as an advisor for companies at events such as refinancing, acquisitions and capital market transactions. Before that, Thijs worked for ABN AMRO for 10 years with positions within M&A, acquisition financing and commodity financing (last in Chicago). Thijs graduated in financial economics at VU University Amsterdam.

As of January 2022 Pieter is responsible for the Venture activities of Rabo Investments, where he can combine his investment experience to contribute to the positive change in Food & Agri chains and the impact of this to climate change. Before this role Pieter was active in the Dutch market where he was assisting growing companies. Before Rabo Investments Pieter has worked in the M&A teams at ING and Rabobank where he was leading transactions in the TMT sector and for private equity. He began his career at Triple Value Strategy Consultants (now Steward Requeen), where he advised companies on sustainable strategies from the conviction that the financial value creation and impact can go along together. Pieter studied Business Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Yvonne joined RI in September 2018 and is currently responsible for Fund and Co-investments within RI. Prior to RI, Yvonne gained 12 years of experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), bringing relevant deal experience to efficiently execute co-investment processes as well as an extensive network to bring relevant (sector-related) value to portfolio companies and partners.
From 2011-2018, she worked at Rabobank M&A where she led a variety of F&A transactions and was also responsible for Dairy M&A coverage. Prior to that, she worked at the M&A team of ING in London (2006-2010). Yvonne has a Master’s degree in International Business (Finance track) from the University of Maastricht and passed all levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

Björn joined Rabo Investments in October 2022.
Björn oversees and is responsible for the ESG strategy and execution across the whole portfolio of Rabo Investments. He has been with Rabobank for over 20 years and has held several positions in business banking, management and sustainability. Björn is a pioneer and expert in the Circular Economy.

In his former role in Sustainable Finance at Commercial Banking, he supported both clients and colleagues on sustainability related matters, such as structuring KPI’s for Sustainability linked loans, advising on Circular Economy business models and ESG. Alongside his professional experience in sustainability and circularity, Björn gained expertise in this field a.o. during his MBA study at Nyenrode Business University and postgraduate at Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership.

Rogier joined Rabo Investments in January 2021, focusing on Funds and Co-Investments in the global Food & Agri sector as well as investments in the Netherlands across all sectors. He brings along a longstanding experience and network in the financial sponsor community given his prior experience in a variety of roles in leveraged finance and sponsor coverage at Rabobank, in the Netherlands, Europe and US. Since Rogier joined Rabobank’s Leveraged Finance department in 2005 he has been maintaining and building relationships with the global financial sponsor community by originating and executing transactions for Private Equity clients.

Rogier has worked in both the European and the US market where he has been located in the New York office between 2015 and 2018. Before joining Rabobank, Rogier worked for 8 years with several Dutch mid-market M&A boutiques. Rogier holds a Master’s degree in Tax Law from Tilburg University.

Roelant joined RI in December 2015, where he focuses on ambitious Dutch companies that want to grow further. Prior thereto he was active in the fields of capital structuring and acquisition finance at Rabobank, where he was involved with various management and leveraged buy-outs as well as strategic acquisitions. Realising growth and improvements together with management teams is what drives Roelant. He started his career at Rabobank as a management trainee in 2006. Roelant studied Business Administration at the VU Amsterdam and Law at the University of Amsterdam.

Aukje joined Rabo Investments in 2021, focusing on the junior capital proposition of RI. She has several years of experience as an investment banker and manager in both the international wholesale and mid-market domain. In her current role, she focuses on risk-bearing capital solutions for fast growing companies in the mid-market domain.
Aukje started her career as equity research analyst with SocGen and Credit Lyonnais.

After her position as credit analyst with Lloyds, she joined Rabobank in 2005 and fulfilled various positions in Acquistion Finance, Portfolio Management, Sustainability and FR&R Restructuring NL. Aukje holds an MBA from the University of Durham, UK.

Ilias has been working for RI since March 2014. He focuses mainly on Private Equity fund investments. Ilias started working for Rabobank in 2013 as a Management Trainee. Following his traineeship of one year, he started working as an analyst in the Private Equity team focusing on debt-to-equity swaps and the management of this turn-around portfolio. Since 2017 Ilias started focusing more on private equity fund investments both in Dutch (sector agnostic) and International (Food & Agri focus) funds.
Ilias graduated in Business Administration from the VU University Amsterdam.

Arjan is principally focused on working with young, fast growing scale-up companies and more mature mid-market companies.
With experience in debt, equity and hybrid solutions, Arjan is adept to structure tailored solutions for growth companies in whatever lifecycle phase they may be.

Arjan started his career as a management trainee at Rabobank, during which he worked for Global Client Solutions, the Financial Institutions Group and the Mergers & Acquisitions department. He followed his traineeship with a two year tenor at Global Client Solutions, the wholesale unit dedicated to structured and subordinated finance solutions. Since joining Rabo Investments he has been working on risk-bearing debt and equity transactions.

Arjan graduated with a double bachelor's degree, a double master's degree, and a post-grad in business, economics, international relations and diplomacy from Leiden University, the Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Australian National University and the Clingendael Institute of International Relations. He currently reads for a degree in Laws at Queen Mary, University of London.

Elena joined Rabo Investments in May 2022. She has over 10 years of investment banking experience and has been involved in various M&A transactions in the Netherlands and Belgium. With her broad background working with both large corporates and mid-market companies at Lazard, Alantra and ING, she will support our management teams in their growth ambitions. Elena holds a master degree in Finance & Investments from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

Jorn has been working for RI since Juni 2018. He focuses on Direct Investments and high risk financing solutions for Dutch SMEs and Scale-ups. Before, Jorn worked in Structured Finance where he was involved in the structuring and origination of tailor-made financial solutions including subordinated debt, scale-up debt and cumprefs for Dutch mid and large corporates.

Jorn started his career at Rabobank International in 2010 and has a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering & Management from University of Twente.

Bas has been working for RI since March 2018 and has years of experience in corporate and investment banking. In his current role, he focuses on risk-bearing capital solutions for fast growing companies in the mid-market segment. Bas joined Rabobank in 2012 as a credit analyst for the mid-market. In 2015 he moved to wholesale banking, specializing in Acquistion Finance and Structured Finance.

In 2006 he started his career at ING in corporate banking. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda.

Jorg has been with RI since October 2018. After internships with Porsche China and Avedon Capital Partners in Düsseldorf, he started his career as a trainee at Rabobank. Jorg holds a Master’s degree in Management (University College London) and Corporate Law (Maastricht University). At RI, he supports a variety of SME clients with equity and subordinated debt solutions.

Hanneke joined Rabo Investments in 2021. Prior to joining RI, Hanneke worked for Rabobank Mergers & Acquisitions, where she advised on a variety of deals involving Dutch companies with strong (international) growth ambitions. Following internships in strategy consulting, Hanneke started as a Rabobank management trainee in 2016 through which she gained experience at several Corporate Finance departments, both in the Netherlands as well as within the international wholesale domain of Rabobank. Hanneke holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the VU University of Amsterdam.

Malaya has joined RI in August 2019, where he helps Dutch entrepreneurs reach their ambitious growth goals. Between his experiences as a small business owner, working in a start-up and being part of a global strategy consulting firm, he got to appreciate the venturous and open way of working of RI when doing Commercial Due Diligence work for them. After having closely supported SME and midmarket companies as a management consultant, he now combines his business sense and inquisitiveness to help entrepreneurs reach their goals with RI’s financial solutions. Malaya holds a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Technical University of Delft.

Mai Karas joined Rabo Investments in April 2018, initially focusing on investing seed and growth equity in start-ups in food and agriculture. Since 2019 Mai is dedicated to co-investments, targeting more mature businesses alongside private equity partners in North America and Europe. Prior to Rabobank, Mai spent two years in private equity and venture capital at ADM Capital and Shift Invest, investing across F&A value-chains. During his studies in Wageningen, he founded and ran a super-food company, producing and distributing healthy juices from his native Croatia.

Mai holds a master’s degree in Management in Life Sciences from Wageningen University, and a joint Bachelor degree from KU Leuven & University of Zagreb in Agriculture engineering and Agriculture economics.

Shishir joined Rabo Ventures in December 2021, following his deep passion for environmental sustainability, food & agriculture, and investing.
He joins after spending the previous decade in management consulting at Bain & Company and Frontier Strategy Group, with experience across Southeast Asia, Japan, and Western Europe, focused on investment advisory and strategy. In his most recent role, he advised top-tier PE clients on issues across the investment lifecycle from executing commercial diligences to creating post-acquisition value-creation plans to designing fund strategies.

He has also managed major programs alongside senior executives in agriculture, food, and technology industries. Shishir holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from Singapore Management University.

Daniëlla is active for Rabo Ventures. She has a genuine passion for enabling entrepreneurs to grow their companies and to contribute to the banking4food strategy of Rabobank. Daniëlla joined Rabobank in March 2015 as a Corporate Management Trainee. Before joining Rabo Ventures, she was involved in creating and executing bespoke solutions for various corporate clients within the food & agri sector. Daniëlla has a long-standing involvement in innovation in the food and agri space, and co-founded an initiative to assist Kenyan dairy farmers leverage their own operational data to help them grow sustainably and to improve their access to finance. Daniëlla holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Amsterdam.

Kieran joined Rabo Investments in 2020 as a Venture Partner for Rabo Ventures. His extensive experience in early-stage companies and venture capital, built on an earlier career in the global chemical and agribusiness industries.

Previously Kieran was with Finistere Ventures following leadership roles in a number of start-ups in renewables and industrial biotechnology. With Finistere he moved from San Diego to Dublin to open the firm’s first European office and was Partner for the Ireland Agtech Fund. He has worked at the intersection of research and technology commercialization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Kieran is a Senior Fellow with COWS at UW-Madison, has a degree in Chemical Engineering from UCD and an MBA from Stanford University where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Albena is a Venture Partner with Rabo Ventures since July 2021. She has a significant expertise in food and agriculture venture investments, backed by a previous career in M&A and portfolio management.

Prior to joining Rabo, Albena was working for Sumitomo Corporation, managing their food and agriculture technologies investments in Europe and Israel. She invested in early stage startups in the farmtech, biotech and foodtech space and lead business development activities, helping the portfolio companies increase their customer base within the 900+ companies big Sumitomo Corporation Group.

Albena has a M.A. degree in Digital Management from Hyper Island, also known as Europe’s Digital Harvard University, and Teesside University. Her grandparents on both sides were farmers and agronomists which she takes great pride in.

Rosan joined Rabo Investments in 2022. She is part of the private equity team and actively supports Dutch portfolio companies realizing their ambitions. Rosan has an additional focus on data analytics and/or pricing strategies with the portfolio companies.

After having done various internships (NIBC, PWC, Deloitte), she started her career at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she worked as consultant for 4 years. At BCG she advised multinationals across many sectors, focusing on marketing, sales and pricing, corporate strategy and organizational transformations. As part of her development she was on secondment for half a year with Bol.com where she joined the business development department.

Rosan holds a Master’s degree in Econometrics and Management Science from the Erasmus School of Economics in Rotterdam, with a specialization in Quantitative Finance.

Rens joined RI in October 2019 after completing the Rabo Global Traineeship. He is part of Rabo Ventures , where he can combine his background in finance and technology to fuel the growth of start-ups.

After gaining experience at the Digital Bank, Corporate Lending and Acquisition Finance, he is now able to pursue his passion for innovative companies in the food and agri space. With his social skills and result-driven mindset, he strives to support ambitious entrepreneurs in realizing their growth ambitions.
Rens graduated from the Erasmus University Rotterdam and holds Master’s degrees in Finance and Investments and Business Information Management.

Marouane joined Rabo Investments in November 2020 and is part of the Growth Capital team. He started his career at Rabobank as a Global Trainee during which he successfully completed a rotation within RI. He also gained experience at Financial Advisory & Solutions, the AGRI3 fund and Startup Innovation in New York. After his traineeship, he gained relevant work experience at Financial Restructuring International.

Coming from an entrepreneurial family, Marouane temporarily left university to also pursue his own business. For multiple years, he assisted SME companies in making the transition from offline to online. He wants to leverage this entrepreneurial experience to assist companies with a strong vision and growth ambition. Marouane graduated cum laude for the Master in Strategic Management from Tilburg University.

Prior to Rabo Investments Kars worked within the Financial Restructuring & Recovery department where he supported companies in financial distress. Before joining Rabobank, Peter gained direct private equity experience at Victus Participations, where he focused on established Food & Agri companies in the Benelux. As a student, he completed relevant internships in M&A and Private Equity.
Peter graduated magna cum laude with a Masters in Financial Economics from KU Leuven in Belgium with an extensive specialisation in Global Management at NEOMA Business School in France.

Prior to RI, Boyd gained 2 years of experience at a Merger & Acquisition Boutique in the SME and mid-market segment where he specialized in Business Valuation, Financial Due Diligence and Corporate Law. Before that, he completed internships as a Strategy Consultant at Accenture, Stedin and Koninklijke BAM Groep with a focus on digital innovation and the energy transition.

Boyd holds both a Master's degree in Business Development & Entrepreneurship from Utrecht University with a specialization in Entrepreneurial Finance and a Master's degree in Financial Management (graduated cum laude) from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with a specialization in Corporate Valuation.

This role integrates her keen interest in innovative technologies and her ambition to accelerate sustainable transformations through investing.

During her studies, Anne Fleur gained experience in strategy consulting, where she advised both SMEs and multinationals in a wide range of sectors, focusing mainly on expansion and market positioning strategies.
Anne Fleur holds Master degrees in Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management (Finance specialization) and Business Administration (Digital Business specialization) from LUISS University and the University of Amsterdam, respectively.

Tobin joined Rabo Investments in August 2022 following the completion of the Rabo Global Traineeship. During his graduate program Tobin gained experience with the bank’s Private Equity, Venture Capital, Private Debt and Digital Payments & Identity divisions. As part of the Rabo Ventures team he focusses on high growth Food and Ag Tech businesses across Europe, the US and Israel.

Before joining the bank, Tobin completed various M&A Private Equity and operational internships in the Netherlands and South East Asia. Tobin graduated cum laude with a Masters degree in Business Administration specialising in Finance and Investment.

Arnoud has been with Rabo Investments since December 2019, focussing on the Risk & Control environment of RI and its liaisons with the corporate departments of the Rabobank, such as Compliance, Risk Management, Legal, Tax. Arnoud gained relevant international working experience in the field of performance management, governance and risk management in various positions within Achmea, as an Operational Risk Manager within MN and as a consultant.
Arnoud holds a Master’s degree in Fiscal Law from Groningen University and an Executive Master in Finance & Control of the VU Amsterdam (CIMA).

Martin has been working for Rabo Investments since Augustus 2021 as Senior Business Controller. In this role he supports the Finance Director and focuses mainly on the financial side of the department. Before that he worked at the Finance & Accounting department of Rabobank for three years. Martin started his career at KPMG where he worked in various positions within the International Business Support department. Lies joined Rabo Investments in July 2021 as a Business Manager to the Global Head of Rabo Investments. In this role she supports the Global Head in the execution of new strategic/ business development initiatives and acts as project manager for strategic, tactical and operational projects and initiatives.

Lies started her career at Rabobank as a trainee, after which she worked in the Acquisition Finance department for a few years. In 2016 she left the bank to work in Private Equity - first at ABN AMRO Participaties (now Capital A) and later at Parcom Capital. In 2020 she rejoined Rabobank as Business Manager for the Business Lending department, where she helped the department in their transition towards the agile way of working. Lies holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

Ingrid has been working for RI since May 2012 and handles file management, process control and administration. Ingrid has been employed by Rabobank since 1986, and has worked as an employee of credit management at Rabobank Amsterdam in the past few years. In 2018 Ingrid completed her HBO module Corporate Law.

Diana has been working as a Senior Support Officer at RI since January 2019. The booking and subsequent management of the debt portfolio is one of her focus areas. Diana has been working at Rabobank Nederland since 1986 and also has a lot of experience as portfolio manager at Project Finance and Acquisition Finance. In addition, she has worked via Rabo Connect as (internal) account manager at various affiliated banks. Diana studied Economics & Management at the Hogeschool in Utrecht.

Andreea joined Rabo Investments in April 2022 but before she was part of the Treasury and Cash Management team where she managed the cash reserves of the bank and provided liquidity for all branches/departments of Rabobank around the world.
Prior to this, she completed her treasury experience for large corporates in different fields like pharmaceutical industry, retail and telecommunications.

During her experience in corporate treasury she did not only learn about the importance of liquidity, hedging, investment or managing debts but she also got to value the importance of being in compliance with regulators and knowing your customers; knowledge that she is now applying to different funds/entities where Rabo Investments is a stakeholder. Andreea holds a Master’s Degree in Health Services Management and a Post Graduate’ Degree in Fundamentals of Treasury at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

Hester has been working as a Transaction Support Officer at Rabo Investments since April 2022. One of her focus areas is taking care of correct and complete Know Your Customer checks of the parties in which RI does make investments.
Hester has been working at Rabobank since 1991 and has a lot of experience as portfolio manager at Project Finance and Acquisition Finance. In addition, she has been working in the Finance domain for several years. Hester has studied Business Economy at Hogeschool Windesheim in Zwolle.

Margreet joined Rabo Investments in August 2017 as Senior Office Manager. She assists the Head of the department and is secretary of the Investment Committee.
She started at Rabobank as Executive Assistant in 2013 after a long period living abroad and working for the Dutch Embassy in London and Brussels in several positions.
Margreet graduated in business law from the University of Leiden and started her career in 1987 when she joined the Ministry of Finance as policy officer.
